The Grant Dawson Collection is inspired by a commitment to the environment and its inhabitants. Designed to create awareness, each piece represents an endangered or threatened species, and is exquisitely rendered in portrait-like detail. Functionality is integral. These are not just beautiful works of art, but usable - a daily reminder that you, too, can be a reflection of change. Also, with exceptional craftsmanship, these pieces can be handed down as true heirlooms, as was the case in previous generations. Handcrafted in the USA, Grant Dawson uses a combination of certified sustainable North American hardwoods, recycled glass, lead free pewter finished in 24k gold or sterling silver, and food safe natural finishes. Each stunning piece is presented in a signature gift box, made of 100% recycled material, and accompanied by information on the individual species plight with ways to help preserve and conserve its population - a reminder to us of the beauty and fragility of our world and our obligation to the future. Your purchase from the Grant Dawson Collection also allows you to make a difference in our world as a portion of profits are donated to the Sustainable Furniture Council. * Each box is a handcrafted work of art, made to order. Please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery. The Dart Frog's Story - Called the most alluring of all frog species, these tiny amphibians are native to the tropical, humid forests of Central and South America. Also known as the Blue Poison Dart Frog, they have received the name due to indigenous peoples' use of their toxic excretions to poison the tips of their arrows and blowdarts. The Dart Frog is characterized by brilliantly colored azure and sky blue skin with black spots, which are thought to function as a warning sign to predators. The frogs can be very small, ranging from one to six centimeters in length, and are primarily land-dwellers since their lack of toe webbing makes them poor swimmers. This species is classified as vulnerable because of over-collection for the pet trade and natural factors such as drought, due to its extremely small range and isolated populations.
